Mixed Media Building Asset Management
A short Innovate UK project working with Altuity Solutions Ltd to develop novel user interfaces for building asset management. Our solution used Google Maps style 360 degree photographs (photospheres) to capture rooms and their assets for web-based visualisation and management. Assets and maintenance issues can be logged, view and managed from within the photosphere both via a desktop PC and on mobile devices. The scientific challenge here was integrating 360 degree photographs with two-dimensional building plans such that assets could be mapped between the three-dimensional co-ordinate system of the photospheres and the two-dimensional co-ordinate system of building plans. Altuity is currently integrating the approach to their existing asset management system. Follow their progress at altuity.com or on Tiwtter. A big thank you to Harry Whiskard for putting together the demo video.
