Yan Xu
Yan (Billy) is a PhD researcher with the Design and Manufacturing Futures Lab at the University of Bristol. He was awarded a master’s degree in engineering management from the University of Bristol, focusing on sustainable energy.
His current research is based on segmenting bone CT medical images to extract regions of interest (ROI) and design metabolisable bone scaffolds that 3D printers can fabricate. In addition, he is also working on optimising machine learning in the design of bone scaffolds to improve their mechanical and biological properties.
Billy is a national chess player and football enthusiast outside of work.
