Weiting Xu

Weiting is a first-year Ph.D. researcher at the Design and Manufacturing Future Lab, University of Bristol, specializing in Metal Additive Manufacturing and Artificial Intelligence. He holds a Master’s degree in Engineering with Management (Intelligent Manufacturing) from the University of Bristol and dual undergraduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leicester and Dalian University of Technology.

Currently, Weiting is focused on innovating in the field of orthopaedic implants. His Ph.D. project aims to fabricate metal bone fracture fixation plates using wired laser additive manufacturing techniques. Alongside this, he is investigating the application of AI algorithms to identify optimal parameters that can significantly improve the quality of these 3D-printed medical devices.
